In the heart of New York City, where the fast pace of life often shadows the struggle of many, Hosanna Quality of Life Development Center provides hope. Established in 2018, it is a nonprofit organization that is committed to supporting low-income individuals and families throughout the five boroughs, particularly those that are historically neglected, displaced, and underserved.
The Mission Behind Hosanna
Life in New York City is hard enough, but for far too many, squeezing opportunities, lack of access to health care, and resource constraints make it much harder. Hosanna was born from the desire to do more than simply observe pain – the desire to offer genuine, compassionate care in the spiritual, mental, and physical domains.
The name itself carries meaning:
- H – Hosanna: A cry of exaltation and reverence, a symbol of hope and healing.
- Q – Quality: All acts of service are done with care, purpose and excellence.
- L – Longing: Carrying a vision for a hopeful future. Glimmer of hope for a better, more just future.
- D – Direct: We don’t only give lip service. We act in ways that are tangible and have a positive effect.
- C – Care: Offering care at all levels, whether an individual needs spiritual support, mental health support, or physical support.

What Hosanna Does
- Addressing Vulnerability During times of crisis (such as COVID), Hosanna focused on the most vulnerable populations—the medically compromised (e.g., high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic renal failure). In addressing this need, the organization tailored support relative to an individual’s own set of circumstances, taking its generosity and creating true generosity.
- Comprehensive Care It’s not just offering aid. Hosanna recognized that people are cared for spiritually, mentally, and physically and that the wellness in any one of these areas, is contingent on the wellness of the others.
- Strategic & Measurable Hosanna puts much thought into planning its services to ensure this goodwill isn’t lost in the mere act of goodwill. The response included food distribution, health check-ups, counseling for emotional health, and provided practical assistance (such as rent, job resources, etc.). Everything was carefully aligned to ensure the greatest impact.
Leadership Philosophy: Service Over Position
Led by Pastor Phillip, Hosanna functions on the principle that real leadership is not about titles; it’s about serving people. This philosophy shapes how they interact with the community: with humility, respect, and dedication.
Why to Get Involved in Hosanna
Because Hosanna’s work depends on active community backing, you can support them in several ways:
- Donate: every bit helps in sustaining their programs.
- Volunteer: bring your skills or time.
- Spread the word: awareness is powerful.
Looking Ahead: A Vision For Growth
In the coming years, Hosanna is planning not only to sustain its services, but expand and grow. There will be additional healthcare partnerships, more robust mental health services, community resource centers, and outreach to additional under-resourced communities, just to name a few!
Hosanna Quality of Life Development Center is more than just an organization, it’s a reminder that when compassion is combined with good strategic and purposeful leadership change happens.
