A significant winter storm is expected to impact New York City beginning Sunday and continuing through Monday, bringing heavy snowfall, strong winds, and dangerously cold temperatures.
Forecasts indicates 6-11 inches of snow citywide, with the possibility of higher amounts in some areas, along with wind gusts up to 35-40 mph and wind chills dropping below zero. These conditions may lead to hazardous travel, transit disruptions, power outages, and icy walkways.
Important Safety Information
- Code Blue is in effect when temperatures fall to 32 F or below. If you see someone at risk, especially individuals experiencing homelessness, please call 311. Outreach teams will respond, and shelter is available citywide.
- Use space heaters with caution and never use stoves or ovens to heat your home.
- Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries if needed.
- Avoid unnecessary travel and allow extra time when moving outdoors.
